A quartet of individuals, identified as Luckson Dube (52), Tafara Mafirachuma (40), Ceicilia Shoko (38), all hailing from Mberengwa, and Wedzerai Shoko (36) from Zvishavane, has recently faced grave charges of murd3r at the Zvishavane Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecution contends that these four acted in concert on October 6, 2016, when they allegedly committed the brutal murd3r of Nyasha Moyo in Zvishavane.
According to the State, the accused delivered a vicious attack on Moyo using iron rods, leaving him with multiple traumatic !njuries that ultimately led to his d3ath.
In a chilling plot to cover their tracks, they reportedly r0bbed Moyo of money and gold, displaying a flagrant disregard for human life in order to gain material wealth.
To further conceal their crime, the accused are said to have staged a hit-and-run incident, a tactic aimed at misdirecting law enforcement and the public.
They allegedly disposed of Moyo’s lifeless body along the Rutenga-Zvishavane road, specifically at the 96-kilometer mark, and then callously ran over it three times with a Honda Fit, which belonged to Dube, under the pretense of an accident.
This heinous act not only demonstrates their intent to murd3r but also their efforts to destroy evidence and mislead investigators.
Shockingly, despite the gravity of the crime committed, the accused were not apprehended until November 11, 2024, indicating a significant delay in justice.
The prosecution vehemently opposes any bail for the accused, deeming them a flight risk given the severe charges they face.
As the case progresses, it has been remanded to a subsequent hearing on November 27, 2024, where more revelations may come to light.
Each accused faces the possibility of substantial prison sentences if convicted, highlighting the legal system’s commitment to addressing viol3nt crime.
