Never Soza, a 40-year-old man from Chinhoyi, has recently been sentenced to 24 months in prison after being found guilty of unlawful entry with aggravated circumstances and theft.
The case, which unfolded in the Gweru Magistrates Court, involved two separate incidents of burglary attributed to Soza, which left the community alarmed.
On June 28, 2024, Soza allegedly broke into a residence in Chinhoyi, making off with valuables such as batteries, blankets, clothing, and shoes items valued significantly by the occupants.
His criminal activities escalated on August 6, 2024, when he teamed up with accomplice James Dzepasi Maravanyika, who is currently on remand, to burglarize the home of Alvin Kakoto.
During this second break-in, the duo reportedly stole a laptop, an external hard drive, and a cell phone, contributing to a total estimated theft value of USD 1,600.
Authorities successfully recovered USD 900 worth of the stolen goods, providing some relief to the victims.
Soza’s arrest took place on September 2, 2024, following an investigation that pieced together the evidence against him and his accomplice.
The court’s decision to impose a 24-month sentence reflects the seriousness of the offenses, sending a strong message against such criminal behavior.
