Five brazen robbers, armed with iron bars, stormed a Rusape residence last Saturday, brutally ass@ulting three individuals, including renowned businesswoman Chido Nyaruwanga, before fleeing with a staggering US$10,000 and R17,000.
According to reports, the thieves, still at large, initially targeted Tendai Mange and Moleen Richirwa, inquiring about Nyaruwanga’s whereabouts.
They seized US$130 from Mange and US$200 from Richirwa, then attacked Nyaruwanga in her cottage, making off with US$10,000 and R17,000.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Chinyoka, confirmed the heist occurred around 8 pm on November 2.
The robbers used iron bars to force open doors, and violently demanded money from the victims. Nyaruwanga was slapped multiple times, and her two cellphones were stolen.
This incident is a disturbing reminder of the growing concern over armed robberies in Zimbabwe.
Recently, a truck driver was attacked near Rusape River, and there have been reports of daring heists, including a US$4 million bank robbery in Bulawayo
