The Livingstone Local Court A3 has advised couples to respect personal boundaries and prioritize intimacy to foster peace and harmony in their marriages. The counsel came from Magistrate Bismarck Bulongo during a reconciliation hearing between Clara Lisapo and Bonaventure Wasamuno, a couple from Simoonga Village.
Magistrate Bulongo emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that could lead to marital discord, such as checking a spouse’s phone. “Don’t touch your husband’s phone; otherwise, problems in your marriage won’t end. To have peace, avoid his phone. Respecting boundaries in a marriage is key to maintaining a peaceful household,” he advised.
The magistrate also highlighted the critical role of physical intimacy in marriage, urging couples not to withhold affection. “A marriage cannot survive if you refuse to give your husband s3x. If you don’t give it to him, he will go and look for it elsewhere,” he warned, adding that many men may have extramarital relationships but choose not to flaunt them publicly.
A Marriage in Crisis
The advice came during a session in which Clara Lisapo sought reconciliation with her husband, Bonaventure Wasamuno. In court, Wasamuno lamented the state of their marriage, complaining about a lack of intimacy and communication.
“She’s always on YouTube or singing, and I have to coerce her into having sex with me. It’s like I’m competing for her attention,” he told the court.
Lisapo, on the other hand, did not openly contest her husband’s claims but expressed her desire to resolve their differences and rebuild their relationship.
Community Reaction
The court’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions among the public. While some agree with the importance of respecting boundaries and maintaining intimacy, others have called for a more balanced approach to addressing marital challenges.
Community leaders and marriage counselors have weighed in, encouraging open communication and mutual understanding as the foundation of a healthy relationship. “It’s not just about physical intimacy or respecting privacy; it’s about ensuring both partners feel valued and heard,” said one counselor.
The case serves as a reminder of the complexities of marital relationships and the need for continuous effort from both partners to navigate challenges while fostering love and respect.
