Harare judge Mr. Dennis Mangosi has suspended the indictment of alleged serial rapist and m_rderer Bright Zhantali for trial in the High Court on three counts of m_rder after the court received the results of his psychiatric evaluation, which indicate that he is not mentally competent to stand trial.
He must now remain at the Chikurubi Maximum Psychiatric Unit after being admitted there. Zhantali is accused in the m_rders of three women.
According to prosecutor Mr. Rufaro Chonzi, Zhantali approached Ms. Priscilla Chidhakwa (24), at approximately 7 p.m. on July 17, 2020, and offered to pay her $10 for the night’s s3xual services.
According to the Herald, he reportedly told her he intended to take her to his house in Mabvuku, but instead he led her to the Donnybrook Race Course, where he s3xually assa_lted her and then k!lled her. Zhantali k!lled the woman and dumped her body in a trench.
Marvelous Matondo discovered Ms. Chidhakwa’s body on July 18 and discovered that she had blanket fragments knotted around her hands and neck. He informed the police of the situation right away.
Around 1pm on December 7, 2021, Ms. Manyara Chisora (46), who was searching for a plot of land to rent, contacted Zhantali.
After showing her the property, Zhantali allegedly raped her and struck her three times with the back of an iron before they headed to her home to sign the lease.
