The Zambian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency, Derrick Livune led a delegation of six Zambian officials on a tour of the Geo Pomona Waste management project in Harare on Friday this week. The Zambian delegation has lauded the Geo Pomona Waste Management Project as a model of sustainable development and innovation.
Speaking during a tour of the site, the Zambian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Derrick Livune, highlighted that his country is interested to collaborate in the waste management project.
“Zambia has an equally challenging problem of waste and this is a learning experience for us, hence we are looking forward to engage (the Zimbabwean) government to collaborate,” he said.
Derrick Livune emphasised the importance of sustainable waste management in mitigating the effects of climate change and achieving the regions’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The Geo Pomona Waste Management facility is a state-of-the-art project focused on converting waste into energy and other reusable materials.
Geo Pomona Executive Chairperson, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya highlighted their preparedness to collaborate with other nations on the project.
“I’m grateful for the gesture shown by these countries to visit this site and Zambia has come here to witness how this project is transforming waste management in the country,” he said.
