A grieving widower in Lusaka West was subjected to a horrific ordeal during his wife’s funeral. Francis Mukonde, 65, was ass@ulted and threatened by his brother-in-law, Kebby Sikangila, who accused him of bew!tching his late sister, Maureen Mukonde.
The disturbing incident occurred on Wednesday at 9:00 hours in Libala South, where m0urners had gathered to pay their respects. Sikangila, 57, stormed the funeral house armed with a 9mm pistol, threatening to shoot Mukonde and others.
He struck Mukonde on the head with the firearm, causing severe bleeding, and then dragged him out of the house, handing him K200 and ordering him to leave.
Mukonde was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, where his condition was reported stable. Sikangila later surrendered himself and the firearm to the police, who found the pistol unloaded.
He has been charged with threatening vi0lence and assault occasioning actual bodily h@rm.
