Senator Jameson Timba, the interim leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) faction has acknowledged the efforts made by the former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) President Advocate Nelson Chamisa during his detention.
Timba was arr3sted on June 16, 2024, alongside 78 other party activist at his home in Avondale, Harare. After spending five months in pretrial detention, Jameson Timba and 33 other activist were found guilty by the Harare Magistrate while 28 others who were party of the group were acquitted.
On 27 November 2024, Jameson Timba and other party activists appeared in court before magistrate Collet Ncube for sentencing where the two year sentence was wholly suspended.
Speaking during the time he walked of theremand prison, Timba extended gratitude to the people of Zimbabwe locally and abroad for solidarity and also singled out Chamisa as a key man who made sure he got enough food during detention.
“There was is key person who played a significant role ensuring that not a single day will go with us not having meal in prison, l would to take this opportunity to thank Advocate Nelson Chamisa for the solid support that he gave us when we are in prison,” Timba said.
