Gospel artist Darlington Mutseta, known as Mambo Dhuterere, has publicly apologized to President Emmerson Mnangagwa following legal troubles involving his wife, Dorcas Vambe.
Dorcas was arrested for her role in a US$16,000 vehicle import duty scam linked to aspiring ZANU PF MP Chrispen Magaya.
While Mambo Dhuterere himself is not implicated in the scam, his wife and her brother, Kudakwashe Vambe—who remains at large—are entangled in the charges.
On Thursday, December 12, Dorcas appeared before a Harare magistrate, facing fraud charges, and was subsequently granted bail of US$100.
In the wake of the arrest, Mambo Dhuterere criticized his brother-in-law for drawing him into the scandal. He took to social media to share his distress.

In his post, he expressed his regret, stating, “I am very sorry to the president for being dragged into this mess, and sorry to the guy if there is any truth to the issue. Everyone here is rejecting it. I have never been granted a free pass to bring anything in for free.”
Dhuterere remarked on the actions of his brother-in-law and Magaya, saying they had tarnished his reputation in their inability to resolve their problems privately, as previously advised by the police. He lamented, “How painful it is to be tarnished by those close to you. This brother-in-law and this guy knew each other before I knew madam. The police at Central and Southerton once asked them to resolve their issues rather than tarnish my name.”
He further urged people to show him some compassion, highlighting the personal struggles he faces amid the controversy: “Don’t you have any pity for me? I am coming from other issues created by people, and I thought I had recovered, and you do this to me, knowing deeply that I have nothing to do with this.”
Mambo Dhuterere’s heartfelt apology aims to reconcile the confusion surrounding the involvement of his name in this legal saga and to distance himself from his family’s accusations. The situation remains under scrutiny as the public reflects on the implications of the charges and the feuding that led to this public fallout.
