A 22-year-old University of Zambia student named Diana has been indicted for m@licious damage to property, stemming from her explosive reaction to discovering her boyfriend interacting with his wife on the phone while they were together.
The incident occurred yesterday, when Diana, fueled by jealousy, allegedly vandalized a Toyota Auris belonging to Sherine Musonda, the wife. Sherine’s husband had borrowed the vehicle to rendezvous with Diana, and when Sherine attempted to call him, she became aware of the ensuing chaos.
Sherine, who had left home around 20:00 hours, became concerned when her phone battery d!ed, realizing she had forgotten her charger in her car.
She called her husband, only to overhear a heated exchange in the background.

“I heard Diana shouting, demanding to know why he picks up my calls when she’s with him,” Sherine recounted.
After the call ended, Sherine texted her husband, hoping to ensure his well-being after hearing the commotion, but received no response.
He returned home around midnight, and when Sherine asked for her car keys, he hesitated. Finally, he handed over the keys, but when Sherine went to retrieve her charger, she was met with a shocking sight—the windscreen of her vehicle was shattered, her credentials were torn, and her antenatal card, which indicated her pregnancy, was also damaged.
Upon confronting her husband about the destruction, he explained that Diana had lashed out after he decided to end their relationship, expressing her anger through vandalism. Sherine expressed her frustration, stating that she had tolerated Diana’s presence in her husband’s life for years but was infuriated over the damage inflicted on her property and important documents.
“I have been overlooking my husband’s infidelities, but what angered me was that she damaged my car and my credentials,” Sherine said. Following the incident, she reported the matter to the police, leading to Diana’s indictment for her actions.
The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court will now determine Diana’s fate as she faces the consequences of her jealousy-fueled outburst.
