The Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, has officially commissioned donated vehicles and equipment to the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) at their pockets Hill studios in Highlands, Harare. The event was held on 13th of December, 2024.
The donation consists of 25 vehicles (5 commuter ominibuses,8 Toyota Hilux double cab,5 Toyota Aqua and 7 motor bikes) and Equipment for radio and TV Transmission that includes playback servers, Vision and audio consoles, cameras and ICT equipment.
During the commissioning ceremony, the minister highlighted the significance of this initiative in improving ZBC’s operational capacity. Hon. Dr Muswere also noted that the upgrades would address long-standing challenges faced by the state broadcaster, paving the way for improved service delivery and greater audience satisfaction.
“This donation is a crucial step in restoring the operational capacity of ZBC, ensuring that it remains a competitive and sustainable media organization,” Dr Muswere said
This modernization effort aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader objectives of fostering a dynamic and resilient media landscape. The ZBC has been facing many challenges in keeping up with international broadcasting standards over the years. Zimbabweans are hoping that this new equipment will help foster and improve programming for both radio and Television.
