North Kigezi Anglican Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe has decried what he termed as increasing female led S3x and Gender Based Vi0lence (SGBV) in families and at workplace.
The bishop says “men are now living at the mercy of salvation to salvage the situation.”
“It has become different. Women are now leading the vi0lence. When I visited Bwambara, a man told me, men in the area no longer sleep…that if they have to sleep, they must wait for their female partners to sleep first…that if she finds you already sleeping, she can crash your head,” Bishop Asiimwe narrated.
Church leaders say “from temptations of indecency in offices and streets to abu-ses in families including assault on spouses, women have taken the lead in SGBV.”
“You look at women coming to you in office with skimpy dresses like the tailor had insufficient cloth. When she seats, she intentionally keeps the thighs out and seems not to care, and you ask yourself if she doesn’t feel the air entering?”
“It’s like a mango waiting for the eater. Jesus is the only one who can aid men,” the prelate emphasized while presiding over the wedding service of Benson Tugume and Jackline Tumuheirwe at Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Parish Church of Uganda in Buyanja, Rukungiri District.
Bishop Asiimwe used his summon to condemn open s3xual temptations by women in offices as a different form of vi0lence by females, but asked men to exercise self-control.
Meanwhile, the bishop also strongly discouraged unfaithfulness or infidelity in Christian marriages.
“The institution is under attack. Couples should raise the standard for prayer, love and submission if the intuition pf marriage is to survive, he advised.
According to Bishop Aiimwe, the Anglican Church in Uganda is currently focused on empowering men in equal measure with their female counterparts.
The church reasons that women are taking over the biblical and traditional responsibility of leadership from men.
