A Ghanaian man, Alhaji Ali Kamal, has expressed his gratitude towards his first wife for her acceptance of his polygamous lifestyle.
In a Facebook post on Friday, he praised her for supporting his decision to take a second wife and for welcoming the newcomer with open arms.
“Many people tell me I’ve handled my polygamy well, that I show respect to my wife and haven’t allowed others to disrespect her. But I don’t see it that way; it’s my wife who deserves the credit. She understood my desire for polygamy and never fought against it, nor did she ever confront my other partners,” he wrote.

“She carries herself with respect and dignity. She has often told me that she cannot dictate my choices, but she is open to welcoming anyone who is good for me as a co-wife. She is not only beautiful but also younger, and although she could have caused conflict or insulted my other partners, she chose not to. I feel secure because I know my wife supports me and loves me. I even discussed our wedding date with her before informing my parents. She chose to accompany me because I advocate for polygamy.
“Despite what others might say about her unhappiness or the need to keep me from feeling sad, I never pressured her to go along with this. She willingly decided to wear the same outfit as my second wife on the wedding day. It was all very simple. If you respect your man and accept his decisions, you should allow him to marry whom he chooses. Fighting against it will only lead to regret and embarrassment for you.
“Many women advised my wife against accepting my decision, telling her to keep her distance from my second wife. But she calmly listened, shared their comments with me, and today, those same women are too embarrassed to speak up. We don’t let their opinions affect us. Polygamy is about sharing and giving. Feel free to share this information as you wish; I’m open to it.”
