The crew of a commuter omnibus engaged in a sad accident that claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy is currently being sought by police.
The event happened on New Chitungwiza Road on a Sunday afternoon. The victim, a seventh-grade student, was struck by a Nissan Caravan (registration number AGZ 0118) at around 1:52 PM on December 15, 2024, according to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
“The ZRP reiterates that motorists must stop, render first aid, and report road traffic accidents to the police. ZRP Mbare is investigating a hit-and-run fatal accident in which a Grade 7 learner, aged 13, di3d after being hit by an unknown motorist driving a Nissan Caravan kombi,” Nyathi stated.
The driver is accused of leaving the car and the boy’s body at Chitungwiza Hospital after the event and then escaping. Anyone with knowledge on the event is being urged by the police to come forward and report to the closest police station.
According to police, there was another deadly accident on Monday at approximately 1:50 PM at the 156-kilometer point on the Harare-Nyamapanda Road. When a Honda Fit with five passengers and a Toyota Hilux with one passenger crashed, two persons were k!lled and four others were inj_red.
The Honda Fit landed on its wheels, but the Toyota Hilux flipped over onto its side. Both cases are still being investigated.
