In a dramatic turn of events, a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing in Itezhi-tezhi district has been found safe and sound at the house of her 18-year-old boyfriend.
The teenage couple’s whirlwind romance took a shocking turn when the boyfriend, Vincent Shimbili, allegedly eloped with the minor, sparking a frantic search by her worried parents.
According to Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka, Shimbili has been arrested and charged with defilement. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of underage relationships and the importance of parental guidance.
The girl’s mother, Sarafina Chipembele, reported her daughter missing after she allegedly eloped with Shimbili. Daka revealed that the couple’s relationship began in October 2024, when Shimbili proposed to the minor, and she accepted. The two soon started having s3xual intercourse, despite the significant age gap and the fact that the girl was still a minor.
As the relationship progressed, Shimbili allegedly decided to elope with his girlfriend, and the two started living together in Chibolya Township without the knowledge or consent of the girl’s parents. The incident has sparked concerns about the welfare and safety of minors in the community.
