A tr@gic incident has unfolded in Umgababa, south of KwaZulu-Natal, where a 24-year-old man has allegedly stabbed and k!lled his partner and their three-year-old son.
The KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed that the bodies were discovered this morning, although further details about the incident are still emerging.
In a related case earlier this week, a man who confessed to k!lling a woman in a viral social media video was found d3ad, hanging from a tree on Wednesday morning in the Malangeni area near Umzinto, not far from where the earlier murder took place.
Colonel Robert Netshiunda, spokesperson for KZN SAPS, reported that authorities responded to a call regarding a murd3r on a gravel road in Malangeni.
They discovered the body of a 25-year-old woman lying in the road, characterized by multiple stab wounds and a broken knife nearby.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect picked up the woman—his girlfriend—from her home, and it is believed that a domestic dispute escalated into the tr@gic murd3r.
Shortly after the incident, the suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned down the road from the scene, with bloodstains visible inside, prompting a swift manhunt.
Netshiunda further revealed that officers conducted an exhaustive search that led to the discovery of the man’s body hanging from a tree, in what is being treated as a su!c!de.
The man has been identified as Sbusiso Lawrence, who had posted a video on Tuesday night confessing to the murd3r of his girlfriend.
In the video, filmed at the scene, he attempted to explain his actions, claiming she had left him after he had tried to care for her, and mentioned his intentions to claim her Road Accident Fund (RAF) payout.
Netshiunda stated that the police are currently investigating the murder case, and an inquest docket will be opened to explore the circumstances further.
