Two suspected cattle rustlers have been arr3sted in connection with two cases of stock theft which occurred at Saltash Farm and Laasgantek Farm where two heifers and an ox were stolen between 17th of December last year and 20th of January, 2025.
The suspects, identified as Tinashe Guvakuva (41) and Nigel Guvakuva (37), were apprehended following an investigation by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Marondera. After their arr3st, the police have recovered one of the stolen heifers.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arr3st of Tinashe and Nigel on the ZRP X ( formerly known as twitter) handle.
“On 23/01/25, Police in Marondera acted on received information and arr3sted Tinashe Guvakuva (41) and Nigel Guvakuva (37) in connection with two cases of stock theft which occurred at Saltash Farm and Laasgantek Farm where two heifers and an ox were stolen between 17/12/24 and 20 /01/2025. The arr3st led to the recovery of one of the stolen heifers.
Investigations by the Police established that one of the suspects, Tinashe Guvakuva made a false stock theft report that a steer had been stolen from his cattle pen at Ndemera Farm,” Nyati confirmed.
Stock theft has become increasingly common across the country, with some suspects arrested while others remain at large.
