Zimloan’s Harare office came to a standstill on Monday as employees staged a mass protest in response to delayed salaries and challenging working conditions.
The unrest was triggered when management announced that February salaries would not be paid until March 10, breaking the long-standing practice of end-of-month payments.
Employees rallied inside the office, chanting slogans such as “Hatidi zvekupihwa order nemaSasikamu.”

One customer service representative explained, “We organized the protest to demand our rightful wages and improved working conditions. It was our way of saying enough is enough,” voicing their frustration over the management’s recent decision.
The protest also raised concerns among workers about potential retaliation.
“We are sure they will fire the people who started and led the protest to set an example and discourage future protests,” the employee lamented.
In response to the outcry, ZimLoan management quickly reversed their decision and promised to pay salaries on time.
The swift action may have been influenced by the public attention garnered on social media, as H-Metro shared footage of the protest on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.
