A 34-year-old man from Beitbridge is under scrutiny for claiming to have lost his employer’s US$71,000, meant for delivery to an agent in Harare. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reported that the incident occurred on April 6 in Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge.
According to Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the man was allegedly attacked by an armed suspect who fired a shot, demanding cash. The victim handed over a bag containing the money. The ZRP is investigating the matter, with Commissioner Nyathi stating:
“The ZRP is investigating a case of robbery which occurred in Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, on April 6. A 34-year-old man was robbed of US$ 71,120 company money, which was meant to be delivered to the company’s agent in Harare. The complainant was attacked by an unidentified suspect who was armed with a pistol. The suspect fired one shot while demanding cash and was handed over a bag containing the money.”
