Prophet T Freddy, the popular cleric, failed to appear in court on Wednesday for a land dispute case, because who needs to show up to court when you’re a prophet, right? Freddy’s lawyer, Jivas Mudimu, claimed it was just a remand date, not a trial, so maybe that’s why the prophet didn’t bother to show up.
Freddy is accusing property developer Kudakwashe Taruberekera of revoking a land donation, and he’s approached the High Court to block Taruberekera and his company, Craft Properties, from transferring the land. The respondents in the case include Taruberekera, Craft Properties, Winston Guyo, Winsten Precast (Pvt) Ltd, Liu Juan, Xiao Xiangjun, Liu Ri, and the City of Kadoma. With multiple cases filed in different courts, things are getting complicated.
The case has been ongoing for a while, with multiple postponements and appearances. On April 4, the case was previously postponed, and now it’s been remanded again to April 30. Freddy’s absence on Wednesday wasn’t exactly a surprise, given the history of the case. But hey, at least his lawyer showed up to explain things.
Mudimu explained that sometimes accused persons can come to court and be remanded to another date without the complainant’s testimony. He said, “Maybe it was a remand date not trial because when it is a trial, the State summons the witness to come and testify.”
The case has been remanded to April 30, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next. Will Freddy finally show up to testify, or will he continue to rely on his lawyer to carry the torch? Only time will tell.
With multiple cases and postponements, it’s hard to know what’s going on. Will justice be served, or will this case drag on forever?
