In a bizarre case of spiritual swindling, two robbery victims found themselves at odds with Sekuru Muzura, a Ruwa sangoma claiming to possess the extraordinary power to dispatch bees to retrieve stolen goods. Because, apparently, bees are the ultimate detectives.
One victim, a concession farmer, shelled out US$600 for Sekuru Muzura’s bee services, only to be left high and dry when the bees failed to deliver. Meanwhile, businessman Makonza paid US$400 for the same promise, but when nothing materialized, he demanded a refund and clashed with Sekuru Muzura’s security team.
“It’s a double loss,” Makonza fumed. “First, I get robbed, and then I get scammed by this fake sangoma.”
When confronted, Sekuru Muzura’s aide demanded a US$100 consultation fee, sparking more outrage. The sangoma later claimed to have helped many people, but his credibility was left stinging like a bee.
A suspicious photo circulating online showed a man covered in bees, supposedly sent to recover stolen goods. However, this image seemed to be a clever distraction from Sekuru Muzura’s bee-less antics.
As police in Harare warn citizens to secure their valuables and cars, one question remains: if Sekuru Muzura’s bees are real, why not use them to catch the real thieves instead of swindling innocent people?
Sekuru Muzura’s bee whispering skills? More like bee-lieving lies. Stay vigilant, Zimbabwe!
