A remarkable woman , Dot Bekker has been making waves in Matebeleland’s Matopo region, driving 20,000 km from the UK to Zimbabwe six years ago to dedicate her life to philanthropy. Through her non-profit organization, she’s been paying school fees for girls in need, using proceeds from book sales to fund her initiatives.
Despite facing challenges due to decreased book sales, she’s continued to support girls’ education, currently sponsoring three girls and directly supporting two others. Her goal for the coming year is to focus on fundraising and improving rural education pass rates.
Recently, she launched a certified training program in building skills and carpentry, attracting a notable number of women applicants. This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in the region, promoting women’s empowerment and equal access to quality education.
If you’re interested in contributing to her noble cause, you can support her page, “Going Home to Africa.” Her selflessness and dedication are truly inspiring, making a tangible difference in the lives of girls and women in rural Zimbabwe.
