Police Crack Down on Illicit Liquor Factory

Police Crack Down on Illicit Liquor Factory

In a shocking turn of events, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has busted an illegal brewery in Harare’s Arlington industrial area, arresting seven directors of Samina Liquar Company for allegedly churning out dodgy drinks. Because, you know, who doesn’t love a good game of “brew-and-hide-from-the-law”?

Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP’s national spokesperson, confirmed the arrests, saying, “It’s quite sad, to be honest, to have a company operating without being properly registered… and manufacturing illicit brews that are being offered to Zimbabweans.” Yeah, because nothing says “good business practice” like poisoning your customers with unregulated liquor.

The seven directors, all foreign nationals, are currently in police custody, along with 25 employees who were also arrested. The ZRP is now working with other authorities to figure out how the company managed to operate under the radar. “How did they get away with it for so long?” is probably the question on everyone’s mind.

This isn’t the first time the authorities have cracked down on shady liquor operations. Recently, the directors of Kombucha were convicted for operating without following proper procedures. And let’s not forget the government’s new law banning the production of illicit brews, including those infamous “musombodhiya” or “kambwa” or “intshengu” drinks. Because, you know, who doesn’t love a good game of “brew-and-obey-the-law”?

As the authorities continue to crack down on illicit liquor operations, one has to wonder: will they ever succeed in stamping out these dodgy brews? But one thing’s for sure – the ZRP is determined to keep the pressure on.
