The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has made a significant bust, seizing 59.5 kilograms of dagga in a daring operation in Highlands, Harare. According to reports, detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics unit tracked a foreign-registered cross-border bus to the residence, where they observed the bus crew offloading groceries into a DAF truck.
The operation culminated in the arrest of Memory Mukwasani, who had collected the illicit contraband from the bus crew. This seizure is part of the ZRP’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply chain of illicit substances in the country.
The ZRP has intensified security checks along border routes to combat smuggling. In a recent operation, police recovered large quantities of dagga hidden in luggage compartments, as well as various smuggled goods ranging from electronics to clothing. The authorities are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend individuals involved in smuggling networks.
In other related news, authorities in Beitbridge arrested two suspects and confiscated over 300 kilograms of dagga in one of the country’s largest recent drug busts. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon, facing charges related to unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.
