A Harare woman, Lillian Ncube, has been left heartbroken after losing a court case to transfer her child to a nearby school. Ncube had argued that she had found a new school for her son after losing her job and relocating to a new residence. However, her ex-husband, Sizo Sinyoro, opposed her application, citing that Ncube had already transferred their child twice this year.
Sinyoro argued that transferring the child for the third time in a year would not be in the child’s best interests, and that Ncube was making bad decisions regarding the child’s education. Despite Ncube’s plea that their son was asthmatic and that attending the new school would be in his best health interests, Magistrate Ayanda Dlamini dismissed her application.
The ruling has left Ncube devastated, as she believed that the new school would provide her son with a better education and a more conducive learning environment. However, it seems that the court was not convinced by her arguments, and the child will have to continue attending his current school, regardless of the potential impact on his health and education.
