SENIOR journalist and GMB corporate communications officer, Joseph Katete, yesterday appeared in court for allegedly murdering his nephew.
Katete, who is a known bipolar patient, allegedly suffocated his nephew, who was set to travel to Denmark to further his education, with a blanket.
It is alleged Katete and his nephew were waiting to be picked up by his brother to go for a check-up.
A pastor, Fally Salaudi, arrived at the house intending to pray for Katete.
When she opened the door, she saw Katete sitting on top of his deceased nephew, who was covered with a blanket.
She allegedly persuaded him to stand up but he refused and became violent, threatening to kill her.
Salaudi raised alarm and one of Katete’s brothers came into the room.
They managed to remove Katete.
In court, Katete asked magistrate Munashe Chibanda to allow him to pray and ask God to represent him as he didn’t have a lawyer.
