A SUSPECTED rapist allegedly gave his 11-year-old victim US$1 every time he raped her, a Harare court heard yesterday.
Patrick Zvarehwanashe was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere.
Allegations are that sometime in July, Zvarehwanashe sent the girl’s uncle to propose love to her, on his behalf, and she turned him down.
On July 26, the girl went to her grandmother’s house and Zvarehwanashe allegedly followed her.
When he got there, he is said to have hugged the girl and then dragged her to a nearby house under construction
He allegedly raped her and gave her US$1.
On the second count, the court heard that on Sunday, the girl went outside the house to relieve herself.
Zvarehwanashe, who was at the house, followed her.
He allegedly dragged her outside, covered her mouth with his jersey and carried her to his workplace and raped her. He gave her US$1.
The matter came to light when a neighbour told the girl’s mother that she was having an affair with Zvarehwanashe.
When she was questioned, the girl revealed the multiple rapes.
