Uzumba Woman’s Bizarre Experience: Goblins, Green Milk, and a Collapsed Marriage
A 40-year-old woman from Chief Nyajina’s area in Uzumba, Zimbabwe, claims to be experiencing inexplicable and unsettling phenomena. Mrs. Auline Pasipamire alleges that she is being sexually violated by unseen, spectral men in her dreams, and her breasts are leaking green milk.
Mrs. Pasipamire says that the problems began when she was a boarding student at Nyadire High School in Mutoko. “I have a big problem that I am facing of being sexually violated in my dreams, whether it is during the day or at night. As soon as I fall asleep, it starts,” she explained.
The nightly visitations continued even after she married in 2003, leading to the breakdown of her marriage. “I used to argue with my former husband because he would see me as a man, and he would also say that there was another man who would come into our house and have relations with me,” she recounted.
Mrs. Pasipamire has sought help from various sources, but her experiences have been met with accusations and stigmatization. “Wherever I go, I am told that I am a goblin’s wife, and it is also said that there are relatives who are troubling me,” she said.
Mrs. Pasipamire suffers from physical ailments related to her alleged spiritual affliction. “I have been surrounded by problems. I am talking about being sexually violated by men I cannot see and leaking milk when I don’t have a baby,” she revealed.
Mrs. Alice Kwenda Masoko, a traditional healer, offered a traditional perspective on Mrs. Pasipamire’s situation. “She needs help urgently because she may be being sexually violated by tokoloshes or she is a ngozi’s wife,” she said.
Dr. Enock Maidah from the University of Zimbabwe’s medical department urged Mrs. Pasipamire to seek professional medical attention. “Mrs. Pasipamire should go to the hospital to see doctors who are experts in various diseases so that she can be helped,” he advised.
Mrs. Pasipamire’s case highlights the complexities of spiritual and physical afflictions in Zimbabwean culture. While some attribute her experiences to goblins or tokoloshes, others suggest that medical conditions may be at play. As Mrs. Pasipamire continues to seek help, her story raises important questions about the intersection of spirituality, culture, and medicine in Zimbabwe.
