The relationship between South African actress Khanyi Mbau and her Zimbabwean boyfriend Kudzai Mushonga has been a turbulent journey filled with ups and downs.
The couple first crossed paths in 2016 during a campaign meeting, but it wasn’t until 2019 that they began dating.
Their relationship took a dramatic turn in August 2021 when Khanyi abruptly left Dubai and returned to South Africa without notifying Kudzai.
This led Kudzai to express his distress on social media, claiming she was missing and pleading for her return.
Eventually, he offered an apology for the situation that led to her departure and reaffirmed his love for her. The couple managed to reconcile after this episode.
In May 2023, they faced another challenge as breakup rumors circulated when both deleted each other’s photos from their social media accounts. However, by July 2023, it appeared that they had reignited their romance once more.

Despite the rekindling, it seems their love story has ultimately reached its conclusion. Khanyi announced their breakup on her Instagram and hinted at Kudzai’s wrongdoings, stating, “He did some bad things and tried to make it up to me.” She elaborated, “He was a good guy, but he did some bad things. I did most of my grieving while we were together. I finally got the courage to leave. And of course, I wish him the best.”
In her post, she advised, “Give everything time… I am grateful for the experience,” reflecting on their tumultuous journey together.
The couple’s commitment to each other had been evident in the past, with Khanyi tattooing Kudzai’s name on her thigh and Kudzai reciprocating with her name inked on his chest. However, it seems that this chapter of their relationship has now closed.
