A privately-owned aircraft, operated by a Zimbabwean company, Nyasa Express, cr@shed into the waters of the lake, claiming the lives of a Zimbabwean pilot and a Dutch national, Ben Matengeni Tonho.
A Dutch female passenger, who was also on board, was rescued by local fishermen and is currently receiving treatment for minor inj_ries at a hospital.
The aircraft, with registration number C2110, had taken off from the Nkhotakota district and was heading to eastern Malawi when it cr@shed 45 minutes before landing.
The rescue efforts were intensified in the morning, and it was through the cooperation of local residents and fishermen that the bodies of the deceased were recovered and taken to a district hospital.
This incident marks the second aircraft crash in Malawi in recent weeks, following the tragic crash on June 10 that k!lled Vice President Saulosi Klaus Chilima and eight others.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash, and officials are working to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
