In astonishing events, a Zimbabwean academic, Dr Vimbai Chamisa has taken her academy thesis to sungura music with a case study on sungura musician, Alick Macheso.
Chamisa’s study focused on the historical background of Macheso’s music and how it is a key factor in identifying Zimbabwean culture.
Dr Vimbai suggests in her study that Macheso’s background influenced his music as his songs carry a unique social meaning.
The thesis has sparked mixed reactions from fans and critics with some expressing enthusiasm to read it while critics highlighted how Macheso’s music represents,”poverty”.
