Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez has secured a late goal in a dramatic come back win over Cacereno in the Copa del Rey clash on Thursday night. The 24 year old striker was introduced in the second half after Diego Simeone’s first eleven line-up struggled to find the net to equalise Alvaro Merencio’s 30 minutes goal.
The introduction of Julián Álvarez and the former Chelsea attacking midfielder Gallagher help Simeone’s side to break the d3adlock in the 83rd minute after Lenglet scored the equalizing goal.
In the 96th minutes, Atletico Madrid striker, Álvarez used the numerical advantage after Cacenero’s Sancho was sent off after receiving a second yellow for the second foul in 85th minutes. Álvarez’s 96th minutes goal made his goals in Atletico Madrid’s shirt tally to 11.
Álvarez joined the Spanish club at the beginning of the 2024/25 season from Manchester City.
