Americans have dragged the newly-crowned Miss Universe Zimbabwe following her win over the weekend.
Stunning 21-year-old Brooke Bruk-Jackson beat 11 other top beauties on 16 September 2023 at a plush event at the Harare Hippodrome.
Amanda Mpofu got the first runner-up crown while Nokutenda Marumbwa was second runner-up. Brooke will elegantly don the national sash at the 72nd edition of Miss Universe, set to take place in El Salvador, on November 18, 2023.
Controversy Surrounding The Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2023
Brooke Bru-Jackson’s win was not without incident. Some Zimbabweans argued that her selection as the winner is tainted by racial bias. Some on social media suggested that she took the crown because she is white.
The argument has gone global.
Americans saw the Brooke victory shared by The Shaderoom on Instagram and expressed discomfort. They argued that Zimbabwe is predominantly black and a native African should have won.
