In a surprise move, UK-based Zimbabwean gospel singer Annatoria and gospel musician Takesure Zamar have announced their withdrawal from the highly anticipated Maverick City and Kirk Franklin’s Kingdom World Tour in Zimbabwe.
The tour, set to take place on August 12 at the Glamis Arena, had generated significant excitement among gospel music fans.
Annatoria, who was expected to join the tour in various African countries, including South Africa, Zambia, and Kenya, shared the news on her social media pages without disclosing the reasons for her withdrawal.
“Hey Family I’m so sorry to announce, your home girl won’t be on the Kingdom Tour as planned🤧♥️ I was looking forward to meeting so many of you and I hope I will one day. But I’m so sorry yalll and I love you all! God bless x,” she posted.
Takesure Zamar, who was scheduled to perform as a supporting act alongside The Unveiled, Joyful Praise Choir, and Tembalami, cited “unforeseen circumstances” for his withdrawal.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances Takesure Zamar Ncube and the Worship Addicts will no longer participate in the upcoming Maverick City tour to Zimbabwe as earlier advertised. We thank you for your continued support. God bless you,” he posted.
While the news has left fans disappointed, the tour is still expected to go ahead with the remaining artists.
However, the recent performance by Will Smith, Kirk Franklin, and Chandler Moore at the BET Awards has generated significant buzz on social media, with some hailing it as a celebration of Christian music and others criticising it as “satanic”.
Despite the withdrawals, the Kingdom World Tour promises to be an unforgettable experience for gospel music enthusiasts.
