Controversial business partners Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu have been remanded in custody for a second day after their bail hearing in Harare did not conclude.
The matter continues on Friday 28 June before Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has charged them with fraud related to the Presidential Goat Scheme. The duo faces US$7 million fraud charges over the scheme.
Yesterday, the duo’s lawyers, Ashiel Mugiya and Tapson Dzvetero, argued that bail should not be an issue because their clients were coming from home. However, the State, represented by Anesu Chirenje, opposed bail, stating that the two were coming from ZACC custody.

The two are allegedly paid millions of dollars for the scheme but never delivered.
The duo allegedly forged a ZIMRA Tax Clearance certificate and an NSSA compliance certificate for Mpofu’s company, Blackdeck Private Limited, and attached them to a bidding document submitted to the Ministry of Lands for a tender for the supply and delivery of goats under the Presidential Goat Pass-on Scheme.
