In the ongoing Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme fraud case, the bail hearing for former business partners Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu has been moved up to January 3, 2025.
Initially set for January 17, 2025, the hearing was rescheduled to accommodate critical legal requirements highlighted by their defense team.
According to The Herald, the duo is seeking bail under altered circumstances.
The hearing’s date was first pushed to December 27, 2024; however, the prosecution requested a postponement, indicating that they were unprepared to make their arguments at that time.
Both sides subsequently agreed to the new date.

Chimombe and Mpofu face serious charges, accused of defrauding the Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme out of US$7.7 million.
Earlier this month, their attempt to refer the case to the Constitutional Court was dismissed by Justice Pisirayi Kwenda.
The defendants had argued that their arrest, detention, and the pre-trial processes infringed on their constitutional rights, justifying the need for intervention by the highest court.
Judge President Mary Dube noted that bail applications need to be heard within 48 hours of filing, with appeals requiring resolution within 96 hours, prompting the rescheduling to ensure compliance with these legal standards.
