AFRO 161 Bar and Restaurant, where a patron was beaten to death following a freak altercation on Saturday night, remained open yesterday despite the tragedy.
David Matambo was allegedly killed by Calisto Murawo, brother of the bar’s owner, Belinda Murawo, a city businesswoman.
The deceased had come to the aide of his wife, who was being attacked by the man.
It followed a minor accident when the couple was driving home from the bar.
It was business as usual, with customers being served hot dishes and beer, when H-Metro visited the pub yesterday.
Belinda, her relatives and friends were holding meetings at the pub.
Belinda promised to make her statement over the murder at her establishment after meeting with her family.
“I am yet to understand what exactly took place,” said Belinda.
“We are meeting here as a family to discuss the way forward and I will be able to give a comment after the meeting.
“My brother is in police cells as we speak and I cannot rush to comment,” Belinda said.
Calisto was reported to have assaulted Matambo after his wife, Zinzi Musonza’s car scratched a Mercedes Benz belonging to someone else.
She was reversing her Toyota Axio.
According to witnesses, Liberty confronted Zinzi about the incident and a misunderstanding ensued.
Calisto then attacked David, who fell to the ground and he allegedly stamped on his neck.
David was rushed to hospital when he started experiencing difficulties and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
