Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich’s head coach, has acknowledged the 4-1 defeat to the Spanish giants, FC Barcelona, in the UEFA Champions League matchday 3, played on Wednesday evening at Camp Nou.
Kompany, who took over Bayern’s managerial role in June 2024, said it was not a surprise to lose to Bayern Munich.
“Congratulations to Barça. They are a top team in Europe, so it’s not a surprise,” he said.
Bayern recovered from Barcelona’s early opener to equalize but were punished by the ruthless Catalan side, with hat-trick hero Raphinha causing significant problems for the German team.
Despite the clear defeat, the Bayern Munich coach expressed confidence that the team would learn from the experience.
“We lost, it was a clear defeat. We will stand together and learn from this. The first goal was tough to take. In the first half, I had the feeling for about 30 minutes that we could win. Then the game shifted with the second and third goals. But we will analyze the match calmly and learn from it,” Kompany said.
