In a shocking turn of events, Sibongiseni Mfanaso Mpofu (28) allegedly tried to burn Christine Ncube (72) at the stake, accusing her of bewitching him. The drama unfolded in Lupane, where Mpofu’s alleged superstition turned deadly.
Mpofu reportedly struck Ncube with an axe on the head, then poured paraffin on her and set her ablaze. Ncube sustained severe burns but was rescued by villagers and rushed to St Luke’s Hospital, later transferred to Mpilo Hospital.
