Students in Bikita sparked a debate on social media after dancing jubilantly upon their school’s receipt of electricity.
The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) recently completed the process of connecting electricity to Chirorwe Village in Bikita. As a result, residents now have access to power for their households, and local businesses can operate more efficiently with unfettered access to electricity.
Farmers can now utilise boreholes for irrigation and other purposes, and local schools are equipped with power for their classrooms.
One school in Bikita is currently trending due to its pupils’ exuberant celebration of receiving electrical power for the first time. The school, in collaboration with local authorities, organised an event to commemorate this milestone.
The atmosphere was electric, with community members and schoolchildren buzzing with excitement. A DJ was present, keeping the crowd entertained with music. During an interlude, he played a popular Kanindo song, which sparked a lively response from the students.
Clad in their school uniforms, the pupils sprang to their feet and started dancing energetically to the fast-paced rhythm of the music. Their joyous celebration reflected their gratitude and excitement for the newly provided electricity.
