Respected American pastor and author Bishop T.D. Jakes encountered a health scare on Sunday after delivering a powerful, hour-long sermon, just shortly after returning from Zimbabwe.
The 66-year-old minister traveled to Harare to honor his close friend, Bishop Tudor Bismark, who was celebrating 50 years in ministry.
During his trip, Jakes also engaged with students at the Star Leadership Academy, offering them valuable insights and encouragement.
The incident unfolded at the conclusion of the Sunday service, when Bishop Jakes, appearing visibly exhausted, lowered his microphone and began to shake.
Concerned congregants quickly rushed to assist him on stage.
In a statement shared on social media, the Potter’s House provided an update on Jakes’ condition, confirming that he received prompt medical care and is currently stable under professional supervision.
“Today, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a minor health incident following a powerful hour-long message and received immediate medical attention afterwards,” the statement read. “Bishop Jakes is now stable and is being cared for by medical experts. The Potter’s House family is immensely grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. We appreciate your understanding and continued prayers.”
While specific details regarding the nature of the incident and whether hospitalization was necessary have not been disclosed, his family shared encouraging news.
On Instagram, his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, along with son-in-law Toure Roberts, thanked everyone for their prayers and support.
“He’s doing well,” Toure said. “Today could have had a different outcome, but by God’s grace, it didn’t.”
“I am so thankful he is already showing signs of improvement,” Sarah mentioned. “This serves as a reminder that as we approach this holiday season, we should cherish the loved ones in our lives and express our gratitude for everyone God has placed in our paths.”
Supporters and fans of Bishop Jakes have taken to social media, expressing their well-wishes and prayers for his swift recovery.
