A 13-year-old girl from Zvishavane was discovered de@d last week, floating in a dam. It is alleged that her grandparents noticed her absence from her bedroom.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the mysterious de@th.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that they are investigating a case which occurred on May 16 at Mataga in Zvishavane, where the body of a 13-year-old girl was discovered floating in Manyanga dam,” Mahoko stated yesterday.
“The circumstances are as follows: the juvenile retired to bed at around 7 p.m., while her grandparents also went to sleep in their bedroom.
“At approximately 12 midnight, Alfeyo Shoko, the girl’s grandfather, reportedly heard her calling him and went outside to check, but saw nothing before returning to sleep.”
Mahoko continued, “The following morning, Shoko found the door to the girl’s bedroom wide open. Upon investigation, he discovered that she was missing.
“A search was conducted with the assistance of other villagers, and the teenager’s b0dy was found floating in a dam, four kilometers from the homestead.”
Mahoko stated that investigations to determine the cause of the girl’s de@th were ongoing and appealed to anyone with information about the incident to report to the nearest police station.
