A 29-year-old foreign national male has been arrested on charges of statutory rap3 involving a 15-year-old girl, leading to his remand in police custody.
The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed to protect the underage victim, was brought before the court, with his next appearance scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2024, where a bail application will be considered, alongside ongoing police investigations into the case.
According to reports, the victim, who was living with her brothers at the time, met the suspect and subsequently moved in with him to his rented room, believing they were in love.
Their relationship took a troubling turn during an altercation, which alarmed the landlord who, upon hearing the fighting, promptly contacted the police for assistance.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the victim, who is still a minor, had sustained injuries and was found to be pr3gnant, raising serious concerns about her welfare and the nature of her relationship with the suspect.
