Former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has passed away at the age of 84, confirmed by presidential spokesperson George Charamba.
Born on June 11, 1940, Mphoko was a prominent Zimbabwean politician, diplomat, businessman, and military leader.
He served as the Second Vice-President of Zimbabwe from 2014 until 2017 and held the position of ambassador to several countries, including Russia, Botswana, and South Africa.

While Mphoko was legally recognized as the acting President of Zimbabwe from November 21 to 24, 2017, his actual standing during this period is uncertain, as he was out of the country.
His tenure as vice president came to an end when President Emmerson Mnangagwa dissolved the cabinet on November 27, 2017.
