The body of the late National Hero Brigadier General (Retired) Michael Chaminuka has today, 20th of July, flown to his rural home in Hurungwe where his relatives will pay their last respect to the late.
The body is expected to flown back to Harare on Sunday ahead of the burial which is set for Monday.
Brigadier General (Rtd) Chaminuka d!ed on Saturday last week after a short illness and was declared a national hero by His Excellency Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa as a result of his immense contribution in advancing the national interest during the liberation struggle.
The family of the late national hero is grateful to the government for the national hero status accorded to Brigadier General (Rtd) Chaminuka.
“We are so grateful because my brother contributed a lot and he deserved to be considered a national hero,” said Mr Siro Mamombe.
He survived by his wife Lilian and five children.
