The late Brigadier General (Rtd) Shadreck Dingaan Ndabambi, fondly known by his nom de guerre Cde Dingani Kimati, was laid to rest in a poignant ceremony attended by dignitaries and family members, highlighting his contributions to Zimbabwe’s independence.
Acting President General (Rtd) Constantino Guvheya Nyikadzino Dominic Chiwenga honored Cde Ndabambi’s legacy by presenting the National Flag to his wife, Mrs. Senia Ndabambi, a gesture symbolizing respect and gratitude for his service to the nation.
Cde Ndabambi was a prominent figure in the liberation struggle, notably tasked with the safeguarding of ZANLA Forces’ materials and documents during the crucial ceasefire period in Mozambique.
After playing a vital role in the fight for freedom, he returned to Zimbabwe in 1981 and was later integrated into the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), where he continued to serve his country with dedication.
Tragically, Brig-Gen Ndabambi passed away on August 28 after collapsing on his farm in Glendale and he was pronounced d3ad upon arrival at Bindura General Hospital. His passing is a loss to his family, community, and all those who recognized his invaluable contributions to the nation’s history.
Friends, family, and fellow veterans gathered to celebrate his life, reflecting on his enduring impact on Zimbabwe’s fight for liberation.
