Two brothers, Mustafa Ali and Omari Mustafa, allegedly turned into cats and escaped from police custody in Meyerton, South Africa.
The brothers were arrested for hijacking a truck and possessing suspected stolen goods. When the police went to charge them, they couldn’t be found in their cells.
One of the suspects told the police that the brothers had turned into owls and cats and vanished.
According to a witness, Erick Tumbulu, who was also in the cells, the brothers made owl noises and turned into cats, despite the gate being locked.
The police are investigating the incident and have opened a disciplinary case against the officers on duty at the time of the escape.
One of the brothers, Omari Mustafa, has been re-arrested, while the other, Mustafa Ali, is still at large.
The police are appealing to the public for help in tracing his whereabouts and have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the escape.
The incident has been reported to SAPS senior management and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for further investigation.
