The police in Bulawayo are looking into the sad d3ath of 10-year-old Nomvelo Phumuzile Mqhele, who is believed to have taken her own life at her home in Pumula South.
This has raised worries about child safety and mental health in the community, especially since Ingutsheni Central Hospital recently observed World Mental Health Day, which is usually on October 10.
Reports say that Nomvelo was being watched by her 18-year-old uncle, who went out to see friends.
When he came back, he found her hanging from a roof beam, while a two-year-old child was crying nearby.

Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, a police spokesperson, shared that Nomvelo used a rope and a plastic chair to reach the beam, and an empty 20-liter container was found at the scene.
There were no visible injuries on Nomvelo, and no note was found, making the reason for her d3ath unclear.
After this tragedy, the police are asking parents and guardians to pay close attention to their children and to talk openly with them. They highlighted the need for early help to deal with possible mental health problems, especially for young people.
The investigation is ongoing as the community grieves the loss of this young girl.
