Bulawayo Public Library celebrating 128 years of existence. The Library is Zimbabwe’s oldest Library and information centre established in 1896.
This year the library will be turning 128 years and in light of this they are hosting a half Marathon run as part of the celebration.
The theme for the Library celebrations will be running with a book in mind which encapsulates the great work of the library in servicing information need of different generations throughout it’s existence.
As part of celebrations they want to raise funds from the Marathon for revamping the library so that it meets the current needs of society. This include giving it a facelift through painting, fixing leakages and modernizing it’s services.
The braille section of the library needs attention as it is where most of the leakages are and this poses a threat to the equipment and information resources housed in this section.
