The Roman Catholic Church is in mourning after the tr@gic drowning of a young parishioner, Nigel Chibekeswa, who lost his life at Zanadu Resort in Concession.
The 19-year-old was attending a church gathering when he ventured into the water and, unfortunately, could not swim.
His friends bravely attempted to rescue him, but their efforts were in vain, and they could only bring back his lifeless body.
Witnesses recounted the harrowing scene, with one bystander, Timothy Sango, stating, “The now deceased Chibekeswa drowned while at a church party. Despite their best efforts, his friends were unable to save him.”

In light of this tr@gedy, local police have reiterated their warnings against the dangers of playing near water bodies, emphasizing the need for caution.
Similarly, a heartbreaking incident occurred recently in South Africa, where a group of teenagers attending a beach party at Durbs experienced a similar misfortune.
One of their friends, a 17-year-old named Thabo Mkhize, was swept away by strong currents while trying to swim.
Like Nigel’s friends, Thabo’s peers rushed to save him, but tragically, they could only recover his body hours later.
This incident has also led authorities to remind the public about the dangers of swimming in unmonitored areas and the importance of swimming supervision.
